Cathrine Yu was raised in Kenya and received her education in Kenya and the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining Navis, Cathrine was with Ethos & Company and was involved in a few strategy consulting projects. Prior to that, she was with HSBC Investment Banking and Markets in London within Risk Management and her responsibilities involved credit risk analysis of hedge funds, approval of securities finance, credit derivative and structured credit deals in addition to implementation of various risk mandates. She also worked with Standard Life Investments in UK as an Investment Analyst for the Emerging Markets team responsible for analysis of Latin American and South African retailers.

Cathrine holds a MSc. Applied Statistics from Oxford University (Oxford, UK) and B.Sc. Hons. Business Mathematics and Statistics from the London School of Economics (London, UK).
